Tipsy. Your American Stout was consumed on the weekend.
Black as the ace of spades, but easy to drink and moreish. A nicely balanced brew. There was a flavour which I just loved. I think it was the roasted barley. Or a combo of the barley and chocolate. Whatever it was, I loved it. Would love to put a brew like that into a keg. I will be keeping that recipe close by for a future brew.
Thank you!

Re: 2011 Southern Spring Lotto Draw
G'day mate,
It seems I ave had a shocker with the Dunkel. I do however have a semi-half-decent Munich Helles going if you are interested. I can drop it off after work one day if that's convenient. Just flick me a PM and we can organise.
Cheers
Paul

Jeff, can you remember what numbers were on the tallies I gave you? If you can let me know I'll PM you the recipe's.
Funny how forgetfulness and your galaxy APA go hand in hand.

They would be, 37, 39, and numberless. I think the numberless was the Dunkel you weren't happy with.
Jeff.

Re: 2011 Southern Spring Lotto Draw
Hi Jeff,
A bottle of my No.64 is finally on its way. It's in one of the old XXXX bottles with the crown seal (and original label). If you're a bottler, take good care of it and reuse it. If not, give it to someone who will.
Cheers,
Oliver

Big Dave,
Currently consuming you Lean & Hungry Pal Ale and loving it. The flavour and aroma is right up my alley. A very nice/tight head which is making it's way to the bottom of the glass.
If possible, I'd like the recipe if you're willing to share?
Thanks.

Glad you are liking it Jello
I fiddled about with the recipe for Argon's LCPA from the AHB recipe database, to bring it more into line with the stated figures for a real LCPA (which is surely near the pinnacle of brewing achievement!).
Batch Size: 21.7 L into fermenter
Boil Size: 33.4 L
Estimated OG: 1.050
Estimated IBU: 35-ish IBU
Estimated Efficiency: 75%
Estimated ABV: 5.6%
Mash at 65 deg for 90 min
Boil Time: 90 min
4.0 kg JW Pale Malt
1.0 kg JW Munich I
0.3 kg JW Wheat Malt
0.20 kg JW Caramalt
12 g Galaxy [13.4%] (60 min) - 15.5 IBU
10 g Chinook [11.4 %] (20 min) – 6.7 IBU
20 g Cascade [5.9 %] (20 min) – 6.9 IBU
15 g Chinook [11.4 %] (5 min) – 3.3 IBU
20 g Cascade [5.9 %] (5 min) – 2.3 IBU
15 g Chinook [11.4 %] (dry hop to cube) – 0 IBU
20 g Cascade flowers [7.6 %] (dry hop to cube) – 0 IBU
Ferment with US-05
As I am a relatively inexperienced BIABer, I am yet to perfect the figures. My evaporation is lower than I had expected (or else I am squeezing more out of the bag than I thought.... ended up with 24 litres
at 1.050). Given I am no-chilling, I shortened the hopping schedules by 20 min as well; so where the recipe wants a 60 min boil, I have given it 40.... and so on. I didn't use any finings on this one, just a whirlpool to cone the kettle trub. Then I salvaged half a litre of that wort to make a starter with the US-05.
