Timmermans are like the Vodka Crusiers of lambics. Lindemans are about the starting point for fruity ones (and even then not all of their fruit are great, most of them taste like those Nerds lollies). Their Peche is alright. I won't recommend any proper lambics because I am not a huge fan.

I'll pick up Lindemans and a Belle Vue (if I can find one) and go from there. Thanks.

I should point out that I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't enjoy a Timmermans. I was just commenting on the "supposed to taste like" part.

Nah dude. It's a valid point. I wouldn't expect them to print on the bottle "this isn't what a Lambic is supposed to taste like", but the fact is I shared Bullfrog's opinion that it was a bit girlie and was slightly underwhelmed given the price tag. It was infact gratifying and a bit of a relief to hear that a propper lambic shouldn't taste like that and I intend to find out for myself.

Latest light amber freshly tapped. Happy with how it has turned out.

Plenty of homegrown victoria flowers for flavour and some US chinook thrown in at flameout. Combination works.

The % of rye in this beer is sneaking up each time i brew it. Currently at 18% (13% malted rye, 5% chocolate rye) with 6% carabohemian and the rest Munich I. 3.2% so a beer i can down pints of and still able to function. WL051 (California V).

Now onto the freshly tapped keg of English IPA - 97% floor malted maris otter and 3% choc malt. Williamette all the way through to 50 IBU. The bitterness is very well balanced, in fact i think it could do with another 5-10 IBU to accentuate the dry finish a bit more. WY1469 (West Yorkshire).

Not long back from the shaky isles. Had a few samples while there.

Harringtons Wobbly Boot porter (my favourite of the trip), Rogue Hop Pilsener, and Hop Tremor IPA
Speights Gold Medal Ale, Old Dark 5 malt ale, Porter, Distinction Ale and Pale Ale
Tui East India Pale Ale (a bit disappointing)
And three ales I can't recall the names of from a tiny little shop that sell in PET litre bottles, and re-fill.

They brew a great drop over there.

My head hurts a little today. We went to the Great Northern in North Carlton and ended up drinking jugs of Feral Hop Hog. Damn fine beer.

Heyas
Just tried a stubbie of my first brew :)
Only been in the bottle 3 weeks (early i know) but just couldnt wait
Simple brew was just

Black Rock Nut Brown Ale
1.25kg Superior Stout Improver
and the yeast with the tin

Very rich and dark beer and tastes green but i reckon it will improve greatly, cannot wait till 3 months is up. Tastes damn good though so age can only help.
Was thinking next time puttin a POR teabag with it next time :?:

Didnt do any sg readings though :( (that now has changed, doing it every brew now) so dont know exactly what went on but was in fermenter for 10 days at 23-24 degrees.

Dear god, no! Fuggles, Willamette or Goldings would be the go.

Glad your enjoying your first brew mate. The good news is they keep getting better.

Great news you are enjoying your first brew, but I agree with emnpaul about the choice of hops.

POR is fine for an Aussie lager style, but not a UK Brown Ale!

Those teabags are very expensive for what you get, and might be of questionable freshness, even though they are in a sealed sachet.

Much better to order about 100 gr or so of your choice of hops from Grain & Grape, they'll mail them to you. Use what you need, reseal and store the remainder in your freezer. It will work out far more economically in the long run.

Heyas
Thanks for the advice. I really think i should do some research on the different hops .
In another week i can try my larger thats been bottled for 3 weeks but not gonna hold my breath as i could only ferment around 24 and i started using different ingrdients.

You are doing well waiting 3 weeks. My first few brews were hardly in the bottle a week before I was into them....

Currently drinking an Anderson Valley Brewing Co Pale Ale that I picked up at the brewery yesterday. It's a very easy drinking but flavoursome (or flavourful, as they'd say here in the US of A). Before that was an Anderson Valley IPA, another very drinkable beer.

With a name like Anderson Valley it should all taste great!!

I'm drinking my latest landlord that I kegged yesterday, I only chilled for 12 hrs beforehand so it's a bit murky.
Tastes the goods though
Cheers
