Re: What are you drinking now?
Was drinking white rabbit and macs sassy red last night.
Re: What are you drinking now?
Had SN Ruthless Rye, Green Flash West Coast IPA, Victory Hop Devil and an old bottle of a smoked porter I brewed a while back.
Mine was the pick of the bunch.

I'm at the Holgate Brewhouse in Woodend. Currently enjoying their Road Trip American Style India Pale Ale. Lots of hoppy goodness! According to the tasting notes Cascade, Chinook and Centennial (and plenty of them).

Now onto their Temptress Chocolate Porter. Hand pumped, very, very smooth. Nice chocolate aromas and a great chocolatey finish.
Re: What are you drinking now?
Nice looking drop Marty, I'm drinking an English bitter out of an old Emu Export Lager bottle, will get to dark ales or stouts near end of AFL match.

Went to the Trots in Dubbo the other night. Had a can of XXXX gold. Just one. They don't call it barbed wire for nothing.
Glad to be home where I can get my hands on a real beer. Just broke the seal on my first batch of Altbier. Mmm. Altbier.

2000 light beers from home.

Same thing again last night but with breweries I like more than those above (Nogne O and Haand Bryggrieret(I think?)).Bum wrote:Had SN Ruthless Rye, Green Flash West Coast IPA, Victory Hop Devil and an old bottle of a smoked porter I brewed a while back.

Luckily for the commercial breweries of the world, that was my last bottle of the smoked porter.

Where do you find out about these beers, much less acquire them?Bum wrote:(Nogne O and Haand Bryggrieret(I think?)).

Re: What are you drinking now?
In many cases, I only find out about a brewery when I acquire their beers. Not so for Nogne O (they're pretty well regarded) but very much so for Haand Bryggrieret (still no idea if that is right!).
Sometimes bites me on the arse but (yes, I'm looking at you, Beer Here!).
Anyway, nothing more exciting than a beer you've never had.
In more recent hey-look-what-i-drank news: Nogne O's Brun is really bloody nice and I am still fairly deeply in love with Baird's Mikan Ale.
The last bottle of my pumpkin ale on the other hand...commercial breweries of the world rejoice!

Re: What are you drinking now?
My lazy 'Chain Beer' as the ingredients came from a chain store, honestly the yeast has imparted more flavour than the can of Coopers goop. Has that and I hate to say it 'Home Brew twang' and suffice to say it is actually my worst beer ever.
Definitely taking this along to a poker night so my mates can drink it just to get drunk, hefts in at 7% so I'm sure they'll oblige me.

Re: What are you drinking now?
Haand Bryggrieret's Norwegian Wood is a pretty complex beer. Smoked malt, juniper berries, hot (but in balance) alc. Very rewarding beer when warm.

Re: What are you drinking now?
I've recently been drinking my first Kolsch, brewed thanks to the info provided by you guys.
It's been in the bottle for 4 months and has just started to come good after initially thinking it might be my first 'sinker'.
Recipe:
Tin of Coopers European Lager
1.5 kg Pilsner Malt Extract (dried)
250g Best Pils and Victory Grain mix ("boiled" at 65 for 1 hour)
20g Spalt at 20min and 20g Spalt at flameout
Safbrew S05

De Molen Bloed, Zweet & Tranen is an insanely good smoked beer.
Goes suprisingly well with SWMBO's feijoa sorbet.

Hope it tasted better than its literal translation of: The Mill Blood, Sweat & Tears...Bum wrote:De Molen Bloed, Zweet & Tranen is an insanely good smoked beer.

One of my own. A Northern European Ale @ 5.2% ABV not a session beer, but very nice on taste. This won't last long

I assure you, I've had beers with more sickening names.warra48 wrote:Hope it tasted better than its literal translation of: The Mill Blood, Sweat & Tears...
"The Mill" is the brewery. Full name translates as "Brewery The Mill". I'm sure you understand why I can't remember how to spell the first bit!
