Hi all,

I have accepted a challenge from one of my mates, if I can make something like a Fullers London Pride then I could find myself with all the landscaping I could ever need, now that was an offer to go to refuse, but I am unsure of what ingredients to use.

Up until now I have been using the kits, with different dextrose and hops.

Could someone help me out here, even if I get a general understanding of what the beer taste likes I can take it from there.

THere is a clone recipe for the fullers. It is an extract based recipe, BUT I have no idea where you could find all of the specialty malts that are called for in the recipe, unless you have a really good local homebrew shop. Definitely get the suggested yeast, that will probably make up for any omissions in specialty grains. Maybe a bit of light crystal malt if you can't find the belgian aromatic. You could lightly roast some regular wheat malt if the cara-wheat is unavailable. There may be some better substitutions, but off the top of my head...

As for the ESB and honey malt, I dont really know. I have never seen first gold or pioneer hops. Try goldings or possibly northern brewer for bittering.

I have never had this beer, so I cant comment on taste, but I'd expect it to be vaguely similar to most british ales, try an Old Speckled Hen as an example.

If this cludge tastes like old speckled hen then just got to the local landfill and get some waste water effluent. I would be truly worried about the quality of the landscaping

In order to get that you will need to infect your beer with a lacto bacillus. Stay in touch if you need to do this

Come on, the hen isnt that bad, and it's one of the most widely available examples of an english ale. It's different, a little flat like many english beers, but it hardly has offensive tastes.

granted the hen isn't the best of british but it's hardly the worst!!

me, i'll stick with a boddingtons or six!!!

from memory, and it's hazy, fullers is a rich tasting brew with chocolatey overtones, very heavy but extremely enjoyable.
Some people say I have a drinking Problem....

Hi all, thought you might like to know, I made this recipe despite the various comments for and against! :D
It is pretty damn good, a near clone, the only thing I am chastising myself for is for over carbonating it, making it serious burp material.
The mate loves it, but also loves my Sam Adams pal ale clone. Landscaping is half done!
