Yes, agreed, not sure this will be drinking now... Vegemite maybe?

Warra,

The website is still in the midst of a major reconfiguration, which is going rather more slowly than I'd intended.

So I'll post the tasting notes here (in our usual non-technical tasting notes style):

Oliver: "It's very alcoholy, both on the nose and to taste."
" I would venture to say that that is not too bad."

Geoff: "It's still not a sessional beverage (!) and perhaps best consumed with dessert."

We decided that we'd underhopped, underpitched and made a mistake by not oxygenating.

Oliver: "It still tastes like fortified wine."

Geoff: "It is Pedro Ximinez, isn't it. This is as good as it's been, I think."

Overall, we were pretty impressed and we agreed that it had become better with age. It's certainly not getting worse. Unlike Geoff's Bockin' Good Beer, which followed ...

It was bottled in September 1993. Alas, the BGB was absolutely revolting and more like vinegar than beer. He will brew a beer with a kilo of golden syrup ...

Cheers,

Oliver

P.S. Congratulations to Geoff for the 1000th post in this thread!

I must say the move to all grain brewing has been something of a revelation to me. My only regret... I didn't do it earlier.

Brew Dog Punk IPA off tap at Deja Vu (the old Biero) in Melbourne. Disappointing. Lacking the flavour and aroma I expect from this beer and I have had in the past. More malty than hoppy on the nose. Not the freshest, I suspect. Bit rich for $10 a schooner

The reason for VB Gold is that I was responsible for my bowls club getting it in, thinking that it would sell. Well, it doesn't and someone has to drink it.

Now at home drinking a Young's London Ale. It's no VB Gold. Thank f***.

No, still going.

It's one of those magic kegs. You know the one. You think it must be close to empty, feels very like when picked up so you decide to empty it. 5 pints later on a school night and it's still pouring. I don't like being hungover at work, it hurts too much. Hungover at uni I could handle, that was par for the course and morning tea pints were a regular hair of the dog. Not anymore.

That and the fact i don't drink that much beer. I normally get a pint or 2 in and then my partner asks whether we should open a bottle of wine with dinner which rarely, if ever, results in me saying no. Hence kegs last quite a while in my bar.

Ah, the irony.

Went to pour a pint of the golden ale and it blew foam. Time to brew another.

My very last bottle of Ginger Beer. This was my best yet, so sad it is now all gone. In fact I have absolutely nothing left in the cupboard atm. Tomorrow will have to be a brew day methinks.

My ipa. It's a bit maltier than typical commercial stuff, but the big dose of Simcoe with its grapefruity goodness balances nicely.

Hopper Whitman Belgian White Ale from Aldi. It's not quite Hogaarden but it's still pretty good. Would be a good beer for watching the cricket on a Sunday afternoon. Assuming Australia could post a respectable total.

Birbecks four brothers IPA, the latest sa micro. An aussie IPA, 4 malts, 4 hops. A tasty drop.

I bought a carton for the xmas break, just finishing the last few bottles.
