Some beers i picked up

Post by Wimmig »

Going to have a sitting at Doma next week, bringing 10 new beers to try with a friend of mine. Seeing as they have all the right glasses we figured it's the best bet.

Lineup is:

Erdinger "Pikantus" (Dunkler Weizenbock) - Germany
Weihenstephaner "Tradition" (Bayrisch Dunkel) - Germany
Bintang (Pilsener) - Indonesia
Gilde (Pilsener) - Germany
Old Speckled Hen (Ale) - England
Erdinger "Weibbier" (Dunkel) - Germany
Hobgoblin (SDA) - England
Black Sheep Ale (DA) - United Kingdom
Fuller's "ESB" Champion (Ale) - London
Ruddles Country (EA) - England

Cost me about $52.00 to pick these up. I look forward to trying them, and can feel in my bones the Tradition, Weibbier & Pikantus will soon be in the imported fridge ;)

Anybody tried any of these, some pre-thoughts or food pairing suggestions for the English based products?

That Ruddles is a bit of a different bottle eh?

I think you know what I think of the Hen

Hobgoblin was good, maybe because I thought the bottle was cats

Let me know about Baa Baa Black Sheep, I have seen it but never given it a ride

Enjoy

i'm keen to hear how the black sheep goes too.. their riggwelter is one of my fav's. i remember once hearing that the brewery is owned by the theakston (old peculiar) family (?)

I tried the Black Sheep Ale on the weekend. The one I tried had a different label though. I found it quite bitter, a bit too much for me. But quite nice towards the end of the beer. I probably would not buy it again but would definetly not turn it down if I was offered one to drink.
Cheers

Arr, I quite like the Black Sheep. It's a bit full-flavoured, but it's sorta how I like them.
The Bintang I've never had the pleasure of drinking really cold, although it's about as close to a Dutch pils as you can get in that part of the world.
