mountain goat hightail/ squires golden recipie?

Post by Simo »

g'day.
I'm looking for any recipies (kit alterations) that will make a beer similar to MG Hightail or squire golden ale (both are very similar tasting beers IMO).
If anyone could point me in the right direction as how I could get that floral sort of flavour it would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

the floral aroma/taste is from the hops they use.. amarillo for the golden ale & i suspect goldings/fuggles for the hightail.
for both i'd use a medium hopped kit + a kilo of light dry malt.. boil the LME for 10mins with around 20-40g of finishing hops

any recommendations on a 'medium hopped kit'?
I haven't put a brew down for a few weeks and wouldn't mind getting onto this one this week sometime.

Thanks for the help.

thanks for the help.
I put this brew down earlier this arvo as follows:
1.7kg Cascade pale ale tin
1kg Light dry malt extract
100g Crystal malt (steeped for 20 minutes)
100g brewing sugar (sucrose/maltodextrin blend)
25g Goldings hops steeped for 10 mins.

I'm curious to see how it turns out. Hopefully not to sweet with the crystal malt but it should be interesting either way.

A bit late now but I had this turn out like a JS Golden ale.

Morgans Australian Pilsener with 1.5kg blue gum honey and Cascade hops.

Wasn't trying to make anything in particular, and only changed to taste like the Golden after 1 year in the bottle. From then on, it was bloody close.

Can confirm with db about the amarillo in the commercial Golden ale.
