Cooper's Bavarian Two Can Brew
Cooper's Bavarian Two Can Brew
Hey Guys,
Managed to pick up a couple of Cooper's Bavarian tins for cheap and am after people's opinions on how it would turn out if I threw the 2 tins into a batch and added nothing else, topped up to the 23L mark?
Anyone done this with the Bavarian before? Expected result?
Cheers,

I did the recipe in the cooper's leaflet, the "Light German Bock" which calls for 2 cans and a kilo of LDME
im not that keen on it and it's been in the bottle about 4 months now - it's probably the doubling in bitterness that throws me off
i'd say it's better to use the cans one at a time, with the ultrabrew (as recommended elsewhere on this forum) and maybe some hops
personally i tried it just with the ultrabrew (500 light malt, 250 maltodextrin, 250 dextrose) and it turned out really quite nice

Greg, I'm not totally sure either, but it says on the can, that it is the same as a kilo of usual brewing sugars. Thought I'd give it a go.
I'm adding the 500g to bring the alcohol up to about 4.6/7%.
The brews I have been doing with just the kilo of sugars come to 4.0-4.2%, a little unsatisfying, and thats the amount of extra dex/malt I have seen many others using.
Does that amount sound right, as long as the brewiser stuff=Kilo?

I have agreed my alcohol percentages with those levels of sugar with simo on here. I am doing 23litre brews. Dunno what the difference to yours would be.
The brewiser liquid sugar says it adds flavour and body to the brew, so I have just gone for dextrose to add alcohol percent. Thanks for the ideas of malt and LDME.
