New Coopers kits

Post by bmorey »

Was in Coles last week and noticed a new line: Coopers International Series with brew enhancers. Looked great - I bought Coopers Pale Ale kit and a 1kg packet of No. 2 Brew Enhancer. Total of $16 - a lot better than AHB enhanced kits. There is also a Bavarian Lager and a Canadian Blonde.

The label blurb says, "This series was developed for those brewers seeking the unique international flavours and characteristics of these regional beer styles", and "Due to popular demand our master brewers have developed a beer concentrate in the style of the famour Coopers Original Pale Ale, which is considered an Australian icon. The finest 2-row barley and hops..., etc.

<insert tongue in cheek>
was that a cloudy Coopers or is it as new clear brew?
or is it just a fault with the service?

Quite the opposite. These kits are not sold in home brew shops - e.g., AHB and Greensborough - as they undercut their own product, cetainly in price and quite possibly in quality. They are a supermarket line and most keen brewers don't buy supermarket kits. Coles started stocking them 2 weeks ago.

it must be the season - i've got one down too.
1 can of coopers pale ale, 1.5kg morgan's extra pale malt, 15g pride of ringwood fresh(?) flowers (10min boil) and 15g pride of ringhole flowers added when heat shut off the boil. also, pitched a cultured pale ale yeast in addition to the packet yeast (should've thrown away the packet yeast though). i'm just about to rack it and i think i'm going to throw in 20g of goldings pellets just to be festive.
