Powers Bitter

Post by infinitum »

I don't know if you can still buy this "gem" but it must be one of the worst beers I've ever tasted. It's an old Queensland brew that was taken over by Castlemaine years ago and it looks like they actually phased it out. The last place I saw it was at a bottle shop right near the Castlemaine brewery in Milton.

Speaking of Castlemaine, this beer is much worse than XXXX which is pretty bad. And I can't believe that XXXX is not even on this list! I can understand Powers not being on there as it's pretty rare nowadays but XXXX is still pretty popular for some reason.

Now, while VB is not the best of beers out there, I must say it kicks the shit out of XXXX! And some of those on the list while not being great beers are much better than XXXX.

Anyway that's my little rant about worst beers

But Southwark Stout isn't bad. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's good. And you can't say no to 7.4%! Southwark Premium is also an OK beer.

But Southwark Bitter you can forget!

Agreed Oliver, Southwark Stout is pretty good! Hey where on this list is Kingfisher? Both times I have tried this it has been terrible, and true to the Ganges water with turtles floating in it that it must be made out of!
I drink to make other people interesting...

Maybe we should lock this poll and start a new one.

At the time it was begun, it was only the beers that Geoff and I had rated lowly. We've tasted a fair few other shockers since then.

Has anyone else here tried 'Tiger' beer, from Malaysia? It is horrid stuff, and is garunteed to give you one hell of a hangover. For anyone who's having a big night on this beer for the first time, they are said to be "wrestling the Tiger", and they always lose! I reckon even VB is better than it. A terrible beer.

Alexander Kieths on tap at East Side Marios, Front Street Toronto. I wont blame it all on the beer, but that was the worst beer I have ever had in my life

Well i grew up hating beer in my teens and twenties i just assumed it all tasted like the old mans emu export or all the mates vb's. Any way i opened the old mans fridge just the othe day and what do i find but a rack full of Emu export so i says " i didnt think anyone bought this S#$* anymore " to which he replied " i do believe im the only one left" So as a nostalgic gesture i cracked a can and and guess what i still hate emu export! But i love beer :D

Are Emu Bitter and Emu Export the same beer? I haven't tried it/them, but if it's worse than Tiger I think I'll have to. At least then maybe Tiger won't seem so bad...

Emu Export & Emu Bitter are different beers

Emu Bitter is slightly more palatable

I once drank 6 Emu Exports & woke up feeling like I had 60 ................... truely vile stuff

I don't think Tigers that bad, but then I drink VB when there's nothing else and don't complain too much. Maybe I should improve my standards a bit and find a beer that I would absolutley refuse to drink :D

is this the same tiger that was s'pose to be rated the world's best beer or something a couple of years ago. All my mates were going off about it (although many of them are staple VB drinkers :p ). I never got around to trying it but it looks like i didn't miss much.

Well, I never heard of the Malaysian Tiger being voted best beer in the world, - but that's not to say it wasn't. I guess beer is just one of those things where it's up to the individual to decide whether he likes it or not. No matter how much a beer may get torn apart or praised by critics, if you like a beer then you like it, and if you don't, you don't. It's as simple as that. Really, who cares what it is as long as it's beer and it tastes good to you?

as long as it's not Tooheys Extra Dry,

i'd rather drink re-heated Ocelot urine filtered through a Camel Herder's undies.

excuse me... your karma just ran over my dogma.
