Now I know its not from scratch but.
1.7kg Coopers Nut Brown ale
1kg light malt ex
500g dex
250g rolled oats steeped
saaz for finishing steeped
I would like to take this opp. to slap some heads at Coopers for stopping the tasty Nut brn

so rolled oats... that is normal uncle toby's garden variety rolled oats??

yes, just plain old porridge oats.

bobbioli, the best nut brown I ever made was with dark liquid malt, for color as well as flavour.

Now since Coopers has stopped the nut brn can someone give me a good alternative. I have never made the dark ale but I imagine it is quite diff

Nah, its pretty straight fwd, I just don't have a good recipie, they are OK, just not great, I think UC1 has a couple

BTW, did you find a good local HBS your way? Was talking to some folks from St John who go to Halifax to get their goods.

Muntons and Blackrock have a nut brown, are they similair to the coopers one?

if it says Newcastle, it's most likely in the style of a NBA.

i was never a huge fan of Newky Brown when i lived there, but it takes all types i spose. :wink:

to be honest ty, i never did the whole taste test thing.

a lot of my mates drank it, i couldn't walk past Stella on tap for a couple of quid a pint.
