heat belts
hey, do cold belts exist?
So obviously, where heat belts are great for winter....what about cold belts for summer?
Surely they exist?

I actaully went to the HBS to ask that question. The bloke at the Brewers Den said that he had never seen such a device. Which is a shame really, would make brewing in summer that much easier.
Primary: Coopers Bavarian Lager.
Secondary: Empty
Bottled and slammin' down: Coopers Lager, Coopers Draught and Coopers Bitter
Next Project: Some type of clone

this might sound stupid, but short of some sort of peltier based device (which have been discussed on some other threads here) I don't think you could really get cooling in a belt fashion without a more conventional refrigeration unit driving it externally.
The only thing I can think of (decidedly low tech and labour intensive) is tying a bunch of those flexy ice packs you use for sprained ankles and stuff together or in a bandage or something and wrapping that around your fermenter...

Wrap the fermentor in 1/2 inch copper pipe, attach the ends of a garden hose to it, put one in the drain, attach the other to the tap and turn on the cold water.
Or, Buy an air conditioner and brew in air conditioning?

I used a wet sheet wrapped around the fermenter with a fan (domestic pedastal fan) pointing at it...
whole thing was in one of those poly boxes...
Dropped temp by up to 5 degrees... but I am in dry Canberra
