Trying to visit most shops in Sydney when I am in the area - best yet is The Country Brewer at Girraween - got a kit that had been made the day before - that's what I call fresh - also had a great yarn for over an hour to Graham. They make two or three brands of kits (fantastic range) on site at Girraween as well as liquid malts - they have a number of shops in NSW and also do mail order. Next stop is the brewcraft shop today at Rozelle just for a stickybeak

My local is

Marcarthur Brewing Supplies
55 Queen St Campbelltown

My personal opinion of this place is that it sucks. The guy seems completely disinterested in your business. I tried to strike up a conversation with him and I got nothing. Shazzam, seeing as you're from Ingleburn have you been to this shop? What did you think?

Wanted to look for other brewshops, this thread has been a great help in that. Smithfield seems the next closest.

Dear Iron Haggis,

The reason I haven't been to the guy in Macarthur is his reputation - I have heard so much about him from many different & complletely unrelated sources that I thought I wouldn't bother. The guy in smithfield is good - and will chat all day.
I drive to work on occasion so try and wander accidentally by (buy) a brew shop. brewcraft rozelle I won't return to. TCB drummoyne next.
Smithfield does seem to be the closest of the lot although there seems to be one at chester hill?
Chester Hill Brewing Supplies & Tobacconists
Shop 3b Chester Square, 1 Leicester St Chester Hill NSW 2162

Next visit to Smithfield I am going to check this out as well

Outback Brewery Pty Ltd
35 Dell St Woodpark 2164
http://www.outbackbrewery.com.au

I have to try and work in multiple reasons for a trip (fuel & old commodores are expensive)
So I go to the brew place at smithfield, vili's pies at wetherill park as well as enriques kitchen (pasta etc)

I reckon big w if you can get to it has the most reasonable small items - airlocks - $2.83, thermometers etc and dextrose for $2.53

Country brewer has freshest kits going for around 15 and smell divine (still brewing) truly worth a trip to girraween, thornleigh or drummoyne or just call in if you happen to be out that way - girraween isnt to far off the m4, thornleigh on way to hornsby or central coast

Actually, that's Grape and Grain, which is a liquor store. Grain and Grape the homebrew store is in Yarraville.
