Williamette, what tastes does it impart dry?

Post by MHD »

I just dryhopped my APA/IPA (still not sure what its like) with 12g of cascade and there is still not enough flavour...

Am considering throwing in 12g sachet of williamette... what aroma does it imprat dry?

From the Malt Shovel website -

"Willamette hops are added late in the kettle boil for a refreshing citrus (almost grapefruit) hop character. "

I myself havent found them to be citrus like. I'd say more floral. Similar to Fuggles/Goldings

Willamette is the hop used in Tooheys Black and is a classic hop used in mostly ales. For and IPA I would be using Fuggles as this is the classic IPA hop. Cascade hops are a great hop that I use a lot in Porters and also in some lager styles. It imparts a citrus aroma/taste.

MHD,

What do you want, Flavour or Aroma, the two are seperate items.

If it is flavour, make a tea and add it prior to priming. If it is aroma, dry hop it now.
