Okay, so I got my Abbey yeast (liquid) in my hand and a box of stuff to make some beers. Trouble is the starter was a bit slow so I just used some lager packet. Now I have a starter and nothing to brew!!!!

Looking in the fridge I find some grain, some light dry malt and some hops....hmmmmmm.

Here's my latestest (!) recipe!

Somewhere near enough to 600g LDME
About 500g candy sugar
Decent pinch of each Cascade and Hersbrucker
Handful and a half of cracked crystal grain
Generous handful of a mix of dark and light cracked grain
Half handful of chocolate grain.
WLP500

So I boiled the hops for a minute or two, then steeped the grain while Oprah was on. (I was on a day off!!!). Little more water then dissolved the sugar and malt. Made up wort to 10 litres and when I thought the temp was right by placing my hand against the side of the bucket, pitched the yeast.

I'll post results when complete however it's a nice dark colour and tasted just fine...

NOW THIS IS WHAT MAKING BEER IS ALL ABOUT!

Maybe you should name it "The Flaming Homer"

(Reference to an episode of the Simpsons when Moe steals a drink recipe from Homer)

Shane,

Mate i'm only on my 4th brew and I with you. I don't measure - Gravity, Temp - just sugar.

And my Cider and Beers are phat city. Clean as.

The Coopers kit instructions are the key... pitch yeast at Blah Blah Blah.. but if not at Blah, then pitch anyway....blah blah blah...

Hell if you can brew in a shed where your dogs live in QLD in the summer, it must be fool proof.

I like your style.

If anyone's interested, tried this one today.
Kinda reddish colour, head to die for!

But that abbey yeast sure does leave a strange flavour!

This is going to be one hell of a beer in a couple more months...

That other thing I made though, might be okay...but by crikey! It's going to kick like a horse! I might try it tomorrow!
