sugar to bottles

Post by no idea »

Hello again,
I have been told that instead of adding sugar / dextrose to bottles you should mix the beer with a sugar / dextrose mix by placing sugar / dextrose in another fermentor and allowing the first fermentor to empty into it. So it mixes and allows you to bottle with out having to place sugar / dextrose into each bottle.
Is this correct? Can you advise of how much sugar / dextrose you should place into the second fermentor?
..
If this is correct how long should you leave this second fermentor before you bottle it?

Thanks

Hi

Found this calculator, among others...

Oh, and bottle it right away.

no idea,

The process to which you refer is called bulk priming.

Do a search and you'll turn up heaps of info on this.

Also, a sticky topic on bulk priming and racking is on the way, so keep an eye out for it.

Remember to rack first, then bulk prime. 7 to 10 days in between.
