coopers cerveza....need hops?

Post by lliw »

Gday, I have a tin of coopers ceveza and BE2.

Would it need any hopps?

I would like to get as close to a carona as possible.

It will be racked and bulk primed.

It'd need flavour first.

Can't help you on the hop choice though. Try cascade.

I am about to put one of these down and have faced the same connundrum. I reckon I am going to add about 20gm of Cascade hops as they impart a citrus taste/aroma and you add a wedge of lime or lemon to Corona so the should go down well.

Hi
I made the Coopers Cerveza with 500 dextrose, 700g LDME, 20g cascade hops one minute boil and used saflager W34/70.

Followed the usual lager fermentation12c, diactyl rest, racking and cold conditioning. It came out a cracker!

Had a bit more body than a Corona and alot more taste, a mate said it was the best beer he'd had in Australia! Not my words.

I highly recomend this recipe.

I used 12g of supa alpha hops in an attempt to make a Corona last year (with Morgan's Canadian Light) - tasted pretty good, although the brew was a little gassy.

Brothers,

I made the Cerveza kit, no hops (foolishly didn't want to spoil it) and made a banana beer that has taken a month to end up plain. Good plain, but plain nontheless. The banana taste has gone - thank the beer god.

Tett gets my vote too NTRabbit. Or if you can find it try Santium (a supercharged American variety similar to Tett).

Cascade's great in American Pale Ale's. & I do like a little chocolate malt in my Porters.

Polar,
I'd steer clear of dry hopping with Saaz pellets, as I'm led to believe that it can produce grassy flavours. If you want to dry hop, try another type of hop such as cascade.

I have just tried my Coopers Mexican Cerveza yesterday, and it is a GREAT beer.

Possibly my best home brew yet.

Recipe I used:
Coopers Mexican kit
Brewiser Brewing sugar 1kg (real fan of that)
500gm dextrose
No hops
Bulk primed 180gm dextrose.

Great colour, fruity flavour(not overpowering at all), good mouthfeel, just an EXCELLENT beer. Lemon/lime unnecessary. Simple recipe, excellent result.

Will be doing that again for sure.

I prefer a hershbrucker, about 6g quick boil for 20 mins, 6g dry.
Try Brewcraft Mexican Cerveza, much better in my opinion, with no added hops.
Both with a brew booster.
