Steralising in dishwasher
Steralising in dishwasher
Hey people, is it true that you can steralise stubbies and longnecks in the dishwasher, using hot water only????

It is possible due to the hot drying temperatures; however any residual grease, dirt or grime in the dish washer filter may get coated on the inside of the bottles. Which could lead to infection or with the grease , no head retention.
I wouldn't bother personally, just use a good cleaning solution such as napisan, bleach, idophor, sterophos, Sodium metabisulphite etc..... rinse very well then a non-rinse sanitser is the go.

There's nothing wrong with having nothing to say - unless you insist on saying it. (Anonymous)
I'm pretty sure it has been covered in here before, but due to the small opening of a bottle, such LITTLE water actually gets in the bottle during a dishwasher cycle, that it does NOT really sanitise.
I'm sure it cleans the outside of the bottle really well, but the inside is what really matters.

"Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer." - Dave Barry.
Our dishwasher does all our sterilising, but you need to put the bottles in clean, 'cos the wash cycle won't remove sediment inside the bottle. The drying cycle spits out the bottles too hot to touch, and they go straight into a large plastic container out of the wash. The container's lid stays on until bottling time.
Haven't had a dud bottle yet. I wouldn't do it any other way.
