Has anybody got any ideas for the Coopers Irish Stout kit, maybe a good recipe or type of hops that go well with these kits. Have done twice previously, one with a Morgan's Choc-Malt and the other with a Morgan's Caramalt, both were pretty decent. I've heard of Fuggles and Willamette hops being added to stout kits, has anybody got any suggestions. Cheers....
i like fuggles, goldings & willamette in my stouts.. i've found a touch (5-10g) of cascade, along with either of the above, is good too. i think i'll be trying amarillo with fuggles in my next..
East Kent Goldings are normally used in Irish Stouts, especially as flavouring hop. One of the Irish microbreweries uses Galena as a bittering hop (wouldn't traditionally be used) and it's fantastic; not sure whether you'll bother with a bittering hop with a kit though. Fuggles would also work well as a flavouring hop. Stouts don't tend to use aroma hops or dry hopping.
