chlorine question

If i just leave tap water in a glass carboy overnight with maybe an aquarium airstone in it would that get rid of the chlorine?

how did you get the chlorine in there? (what sort of sanitiser) i'v used chlorine based sanitisers befor i just wash out the carboy twice with cold water then once with boiling water and leave in the sun for a day after that it is more than fine

EDIT: just realised your carboys are glass, mine are plastic, might make a difference, i'm not sure

Charcoal filter may help rid chlorine from town water supplies.

Yes is the answer to your question, areating the water will get rid of the chlorine, but make sure that the air you are pumping through has an air filter, you don't want to be introducing any other contaminants.

I"M using an asthma nebuliser built for pumping air into humans. It has a tampon shaped removable filter that all the air must pass through before it goes down the airtube.

You can get these things from almost every OP shop, as they seemed to be popular 20 years ago but aren't now for some reason. About $10, might be cheaper than a fish pump with filter, as I've never had a fish pump with a filter, so maybe they're a more expensive item.

Only criticism I have of it is that the bubbles out of the airstone are very large, not the tiny ones i'm used to seeing in fishtanks. This maybe because the airflow is too great, or maybe i've got a dud airstone. Not sure.

Preboiling your water is the best option if you have the time. It gets out the chlorine, as well as precipitating out bicarbonates.
