I recently took a trip to my local BrewCraft store (convenience factor, not a preference) to get another fermenter. The fermenter came with a free Beermakers kit of my choice. I was going to put down a dark ale so I went with the Beermakers Old.
Brewed it up on the weekend with the following:
500 dex
250 LDM
500 DDM
250 maltodextrin
10g Fuggles boiled 15mins
Kit yeast & Coopers culture
Brewing @ 20 - 22
All signs so far point to it being not a bad one.
What's the thought on Beermakers as a kit?

I've only done the Beermakers Old kit with 750 Dark Malt Extract, 250 Maltodextrin with Muntons Gold yeast. It doesn't taste that great so I'm going to leave it alone for a few months and hope it gets better. There's something about it that just doesn't taste right, but it seems to be mellowing out a bit.
Fermentation is nearing completion and hydrometer tastings are not too bad.
I think next time I'll boil the hops for longer as there is not enough bitterness for my taste, then again some of the malt is still yet to ferment out so probably too early to comment.
The guy at the HB store said to boil it for only 10 mins but I'm thinking this is far too low.
Glad to hear it's mellowing out.
