hi chaps, my 2nd batch is nearly done, it's a generic real ale. I was wondering how much sugar to bulk prime with. My first batch was a bitter and I put 2oz into 23L and it was good, but almost lagerish in terms of bubbles.
I was thinking in this new batch 1/2oz into 20L as I want it almost flat as it comes out of the pumps?
Any help appreciated and greatly received.

Not being all that good with imperial measurements I had to go to my trusty cook book to calculate this one. Generally if you fermented at 18-20C I would add about 50-90gm of sugar to get just a little fizz. 30gm = 1oz. So this is about 1.7oz - 3oz. as you suggested 2oz was too much for your taste I would go the 1.7oz or lower option. It also depends on what your brewing. If its an amber or darker ale then there will be some slow fermentation of the longer dextrins which will also add CO2. Some people add nothing to such brews. This has also worked for me in the past with good results. It all depends on what amount of fizz you like.
