I did say that i use my freezer as a freezer, which in laymans terms means i only refridgerate 1 fermenter at a time and i only have 1 fridgemate which i just press the set button on and "hey presto" cold fridge again
Is there any drawbacks or benefits to using a freezer instead of a fridge for brewing in with the Fridgemate. I guess since you can set your own temp there shouldn't be any problem, and the freezer might be better insulated?
A freezer would be fine. In fact I did aquire an upright freezer for the job but hadn't realised that the shelves themselves were the evaporator pipes and could not be removed. Even a chest freezer would be fine as long as you can form a flat floor and the tub fits in. Having said that though you may have to drill a drain hole in either type of freezer to get rid of condensation water between cycles. I'm not sure if the upright freezers have any drainage gutter to a basin over the motor but I'm doubting it. One door fridge still looks like the ideal.

It's half suggesting that I have 1 fermenter in the freezer, they are both in the fridge. If you run the freezer (well the lot) overnight it still means pulling out the beer and ....... OK you change the set point rather than swapping power plugs.
Mate last week we had (I think half of NSW did) one night of 38* all night. In Nowra in November and summer only just started.
I wonder if your brews benifit from their twice daily exercise? I've noticed with a couple of mine that were asleep that when I moved them to access the tap for an SG they started breathing again.
Dog your the expert, answer my CPA yeast ? please.

Cheers, Geoff.
I must have misunderstood but in any case i dont get those sort of temps here at night and if you do i would imagine that the fridge would be running all night anyway, i understood your problem to be the fridge/freezer turning off for to long due to low temps and shutting the freezing process down over night...
My brews do get moved around a bit but i dont see a problem with it as i dont shake them up and the may gain or lose 1 degree over night, 2 at most so cant see this as a big problem, at least not as much of a problem as all the meat and hops and stuff thawing out and going off..
Ill have a look at the CPA problem and get right on it cos as you said i am the expert
