Blue Mountain Lager Yeast

Post by Beau »

The instructions on the label of Morgan's Blue Mountain Lager say to ferment between 22°C and 30°C which would obviously suggest an ale yeast but the yeast sachet is labeled "LAGER YEAST".
Which one is it? Can someone clarify?

Looks like it's a lager yeast, so drop the temperature:

I did at lager temps and came out fine.
Never tasted FREE beer I couldn't learn to like!

Dilemma.

Mogran's Blue Mountain Lager
1kg Morgan's Liquid Lager Malt
25g Hersbrucker Hops
Saflager W34/70

I'm making this in a week but to get me hands on the Saflager before then will be a hastle.

My question is, should I put off making it until I can get the Saflager or will the Morgan's yeast brewed at lager temperatures be sufficient? Will it make that much of a difference?

Craftbrewer can usually have a sachet of yeast posted to you in a couple of days.
