I love an ale folks, & I reckon I might just have found what I've been lookin for. thought I should share & see what you all think. 1 tin coopers pale ale 1 kg BE2 200gm golden syrup 200gm honey (good pure stuff,straight from the farmer) 1 bag P.O.R hops 1 bag of CL-80 hops Boil the sugars for 15 min then add the POR hops,simmer for 5min (my hop bag broke so I strained the mix & added my only remaining hop-CL80) Added pale ale took off heat for 5min Made up to 23lt & pitched kit yeast @ 23dg Bottled after 10 days /tasted after 8 days & thought this might be something special tasted after 4 weeks & confirmed this is something special chill it down nicely & let me know what you all think!!!!

Did the same thing many years ago - Cooopers ale kit, the booster pack, some POR hops and 100g golden syrup. Got me 2nd prize in Coopers homebrew comp in 99. Have to admit tho, its not my best beer. I think even 100g of golden syrup is too much. I have added honey to lagers and espeically pilseners but never combined them. Might be time to dust off some of my old recipes and see how they go.... cheers for jogging my memory Jase! Try the same addition to a dark ale and see what you think....
