Hi Mate,

I recently made a GB and got the same smell, posted it on here a few weeks ago. It has improved over time and is now drinkable but not completly gone. A few more weeks should see it through.

I was told by a winemaking buddy that it was due to poor temp control - did you keep an eye on the temp? I'm not sure and think it may be the kit I used, also that artifical sugar taste isn't great so my next GB will be without a kit, do a search on here there are some good GB recipies that don't require the kit.

Anyway bottle it and cross your fingers it's ok by Chrissie, if not just get everyone pissed first then serve it up ;-)

Cheers

Ash

What a confusing post. Is it genuine? (All apologies if it is).

which post you refering to?
the whole sewer smell happened to a couple of beers of mine a while back. They never improved, after three months no change, so i turfed em. Hasn't happened since, and i don't think I've changed anything.

I think Chris is referring to the post at the top where the same thing is written slightly different 2 times. This person seems to have put their question in their signature. I too would question whether it is genuine.

Especially considering one questions is about the Cooper's kit, the other about a Beermakers kit :-)

Maybe we should do a poll on it.

Considering the 1 post and hasn't been back since, I'd say spam for sure.

I think there has been others like this asked...

Maybe it got infected.

I've made 3 lots of ginger beer, All smelt great during fermenting, at bottling, and when opening the bottles. This was using the coopers kit alone, coopers kit with added ginger, and coopers kit with diet bundaburg ginger beer syrup.

Hi Sandra,

You may want to change your signature, it's similar to your first post

No idea with the smell, how does it taste?
