Homebrew,commercial

Post by morgs »

Hey is it just me or does my brew get me pissed quicker than commercial beer? A few of mine compared to a few of the bought kind seem s to get that buzz going a little more. Anyone anyone? bueller?

it's pretty easy to make a brew stronger than intended, plus sg/fg calculations could be out due to differing temp just prior pitching & at bottling/kegging.

You can adjust SG if you measure at the wrong temperature. I find this much easier than waiting for it to cool, as if I let it cool, I often forget to take the reading.

I just reakon that homebrew is so good, that you feel obliged to grink more of it!

as a new brewer i was interested to see what my homebrew could do
ive been drinking beer for years, so i fit as the perfect animal to experiment on,
the coopers canadian blonde, my first brew, got me s&*t housed quicker than any commercial s have done in the last few months

at first i thought something was wrong, but after the christmas holidays (boozing) i dont want to go back, ive gotten the thumbs up from a few friends and i never expected it to turn out this well this fast...

on some other threads i have read about young brewers quitting becuase of the time it took to make, an the ease of buying a slab on the way home,
to me it tastes better because i made it-i believe im quoting soemone on the forum, but thats how i feel, whther its a good steak, or pale ale, ...

but back to subject- yeah, my homebrew rocks over most of the shit at liquorland!

just wish t was as easy to taste yer guys s drinks as it is to write this message (when im sober)

Slightly of topic but getting to Blandy's comments about obligation, I met a bloke a couple of months ago and having discovered each other was a brewer we swapped ideas. Anyway, the guy says he went to the doctor for a check up and the doctor asked how much do you drink. He said just one maybe two stubbies a night. Puzzled, the doctor said what? The bloke then went on to say that be brewed his own and his stubbies were in fact 2lt coke bottles.

True.

For me I guess the 'buzz' doesn't seem to happen any quicker, but the lack of hangover is the most attractive thing!!!!!

I always seem to drink a lot of beer and coffee on brew days, but never feel seedy.

Coffee before midday (I usually start at 11am so I can have lunch during the boil)

Homebrew after lunch

You'd think the combination of these two diuretics would make me feel bad sooner or later, but no! :D :D
