:D Thanks everyone for a great forum. heaps of helpful info & ideas.
Did my first ever brew today. Thanks again for the step by step Sticky,a great help for us newbies. My missus thought it about time i tried makin my own hence the the big round present under the tree.
basic brew kit from Ballarat homebrew centre with a Sovereign Gold Amber Ale. i'll try adding some extra ingredients with the next one,malt/hops yeah.
PS missus said Roger & Averil at the store were real helpful.

Welcome and enjoy your brewing, as for the extra malt and hops there are heaps of posts on here for different additions for different recipes so just use the search and you should find anything that you need.

Dont worry, once you taste your own beer you will never look back, just dont use ordinary white sugar like some/most kits say to use, a good rule of thumb is to replace with malt and/or dex.

eg, Kit(can) + 1kg malt + Extra hops if you desire+ yeast
and make up to 22l ( most kits say 23 but you will get a much better beer by dropping 1-2 litres)

Just try to keep it simple for your first few brews until you get the hang of it and most importantly have fun and enjoy your brewing :lol: :wink:

Gotta love Roger and Averil :) Ballarat HBC is my local brewshop. By local I mean nearest, it's not really that local for me :roll:
It's a great store though, great kit selection.
