my old man reckons he only drinks spirits,as my home brew bloats him. on new years eve he had tequila shots for the first time in 30 years & wound up spewing so hard he shat himself!!!! man did i laugh.He tried to tell me It was from the rare roast lamb he ate, but somehow Im thinkin a bloated belly might apeall to him more in the future... This thread seems to be wandering, hows that pale ale & BE2 going buscadore?
pale ale was bottled yesterday- a new years present to myself!
first time reusing pET bottles, used brew clean and brew shield from brew craft in richmond, melbourne to sanitize
hey, do you use bleach to sanitize a fermenter, or stick with the brewshield/iodophor/other made-for-brew cleaners?
i finally got to see all the toys you all describe in threads at te store,
and my GF even said, "you need to move to glass, those coloured caps are cool!"
no shit she really said it!

thinking of doing a blonde- not paris- for my next brew
my first brew was a coopers blonde and i want to try some new things
any ideas are great!
I live on tank water buscadore, so I need to be real carefull with how much I rinse with,so I boil my glass bottles as described In another thread titled "clean glasses" I think. obviously you cant do that with the PET bottles, so check out that topic for some Ideas. I didnt think the blonde was real flavorsome as done with B.E.2. & reckon you will be better off sticking with your pale ale, but if you want a good hot day swiller, try the coopers cervaza with B.E.2 brewed @15-16 degrees, mines still a bit green but I will definatly be putting down a batch in sept this year. cheers
Quick question on the Cascade hops - how much should we add and at what stage?
My third brew was a Coopers Aust. Pale Ale with a kilo of BE2 and I was rapt with it. Will try with some crystal and hops next to see how that improves it. The commercial Coopers PA doesn't seem to be that hoppy - will these additions move it more into an American Pale Ale flavour?
I reckon it might be an american style timmy but it'l taste bloody beutifull when chilled right down. I've only used the cascade once but was so happy with it I bought 8 tea bags. chuck it in after you have boiled your fermentables for 20-30 mins let it it sit in there for a good 10 mins on a gentle simmer then chuck the lot into your barrell with the pale, next time I'll be putting in 2x10g bags

When you actually make the starter, i have noticed with my starters made from comercial beers ie coopers, chimay etc, that they dont go off through the airlock ( if your using one) just look for the bubbles rising in the liquid to see if its working

I tried this myself using the dregs of two stubbies, a couple of tablespoons of LDME boiled in some water and into a clear PET bottle. It *was* interesting, because it went some way to proving that (some of) my processes are within cooee of being right. I didn't use it but I reckon I will do sometime in the future just for the funovit.
I like the idea of trying Chimay. Is one colour better than the others, lethaldog?
I have only tried the blue mate so i couldnt say, but it was bloody fantastic if you like strong, dark ales, i posted a recipe on here a while back if your keen to have a go at brewing it, im pretty sure the thread was Belgian strong ales
