Extra Large Fermenters

Post by hilly1981 »

Hi All,

I have just got back into the home brewing scene after a mate got me back into it.

After only making 2 brews a few years ago and failing miserably (however after further reading through these forums I now realise my beer wasnt infected, just tasted very ordinary since I brewed 2 lagers at too high a temperature).

Currently have bottled for about 2 weeks a Beermakers English Bitter with extra hops (which a sample tasted good straight out of the fermenter), and also a batch I am bottling this weekend which is a simple Coopers Draught with 1kg BE1.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone used those large 120ltr to 200ltr fermenters before? These would be great for kegging! However you would seriously ball your eyes out if a batch became infected.

Cheers!

The Coopers Draught with BE1 will probably be pretty boring. The English Bitter will probably be the goods though. :) What temperature were they brewed at?

Haha somewhere on this forum is a photo of a 100L fermenter built into a fridge. Now that would be a sweet setup. :)

The English Bitter was brewed at an average temp of 24C and the Coopers Draught is averaging 22C. Thats with a cold wet towel wrapped around the fermenter. I cant get it any cooler!!
