drinking out of seconardy fermenter or 1st
drinking out of seconardy fermenter or 1st
Hello i'v got a question about
secondary fermentation,
is it ok to drink straight out of the secondary fermenter
at the 3-4 week mark instead of bottling???
if so do i need to add any other extra sugar or preferable dex to the
secondary fermentator?
As sometimes me and mates, just drink out of primary ferminator
after a couple weeks, (they go home drunk to their wives), so
i'm wondering whether its still ok to drink straight out of the
primary and secondary fermenter as well.
cheers
ben.
i just put down a coopers bitter with 500gm ldm& 500gm darkmalt&25gmfuggels

Why wait that long?
Chew some malt & wash it down with yeast slurry. It will save you having to clean a fermentor.

Thanks timmy, for your response,
i appreciate it, as your answer was good, as i wasn't sure whether it
was it ok to use the secondary fermenter to drink out of saving bottling
as for the rest of the idiots responses you can all bugger off simply
coz i was asking a serious technical question, whether it
was ok to drink out of the secondary fermernatior after a couple weeks
, thus saving money on plastic bottles etc
but for the those who posted saying i'm an idiot for asking such an
silly questions they can bugger off, as i like my hobbie of homebrew
and simply asked a technical question about drinking out of the
fermenter.
in the olden days of england and australia people were drinking out of the
primary fermenter, i don't think they ever got sick from drinkin.
thanks again timmy for your legimate answer, cheers mate,
ben

Hi Ben,
There actually is a fermenter sold in Australia that does what you're talking about. I don't know what its called or who makes it, but I've seen advertisements for it for the last ten years. From what I see in the ads, the airlock sits in a screw fitting, you ferment your beer, then unscrew the airlock, pour in some dextrose, and put a screw cap where the airlock was. Then, you leave your beer to carbonate and serve it straight out of the fermenter. Whatever turns you on, ok ?

Ben,
If you're serious, I too apologise. Stick around, read lots and tap into the vast amount of experience on the foum. You'll soon realise that you can brew not only cheap beer, but also great beer.
Who knows, you might be convinced to try drinking fantastic beer out of the bottle rather than cheap flat beer out of a bucket

There is a reason that most people drink their beer after it has been bottled or kegged and that is ' bubbles are good'. I can't see why you think that it is dangerous to drink out of the fermentor, i mean what has changed apart from carbonation since bottling? I f you want to drink warm flat beer go ahead but to put some effort into a brew then it is a waste to drink it like this. Why don't you just drink metho if you want to just get pissed?
Purple monkey dishwasher!
You guys who posted a sarcastic rude response to Ben.d are pathetic (chris, ryan, derfly, rhino), you really give this forum a bad name. If this guy is happy to drink from the fermenter then so be it, who the hell are you to slam him for it? He was only asking a question. I know a couple of you apologized but it's the smart arse comments you posted in the first place that make you look like absolute wankers. Just because you think you are shit hot brewers does not give you the right to put other people down. I always thought people on this forum were friendly & helpful, I was wrong.
I'm sorry I offended you, & this forum, Hooch.Hooch wrote:You guys who posted a sarcastic rude response to Ben.d are pathetic (chris, ryan, derfly, rhino), you really give this forum a bad name. I simply had a giggle at another posters tongue in cheek comment. You sure seem to be a precious twit.
I can assure you that I am no shit hot brewer. In fact I am only on my third batch.
I am probably not even what you would call a Brewer as I only pitch a yeast to a Fresh Wort Kit.
So feel free to have a crack at that.
I am not as precious as some.

HAHAHAHA - Great first post - Please stick around Hooch, the forum is not all bad. We really would like your contribution. Maybe one day you can work yourself up to talking about homebrew.Hooch wrote:You guys who posted a sarcastic rude response to Ben.d are pathetic (chris, ryan, derfly, rhino), you really give this forum a bad name.
