Thanks Rysa, and (see previous silly question disclaimer) I assume that the excess C02 bleeds out under the seal before the Gladwrap reaches bursting point?
I ask quite a few bout this before i did it, some put a pin prick or two in it but i never have and it gets out just fine.
The seal from the lid that holds gladwrap down isn't that tight, just enough to do the job.

Your assumption is correct, the air escape through the path of least resistance, which means it tends to leak slowly out the sides. It is convex shaped but that just means you've got enough co2 in there. It won't burst.

The excess co2 pressure IMO escapes through the glad wrap film.
Wrap some around your face and see if it is really that porous, I'm inclined to think it escapes around the seal, it is not all that important really, it just escapes. I have done brews, in the earlier times, with just a tea towel over them with no worries, we know tea towels are porous!
