What's the best way to catch a seal - harpoon or net? I did a search on this, but came up with no results. Hope this isn't a stupid question.

Go clubbing

Even my wife votes for leaching through the wrap. Not that it matters, my only concern is the lack of physical protection with glad wrap. I like the fact that heavy objects cant fall through.

I get the distinct impression that morgs is not keen on the gladwrap idea!

As long as the outward pressure is greater than the inward pressure, it doesn't matter what you cover your fermenter with.

And lids are good for stopping those scaffolding bits falling in. :D

There is a cupboard above. I don't trust my wife to not drop stuff onto it. The one time i did use glad wrap sonmething did fall onto it however disaster was averted. My lid goes straight into the dishwasher, then a quick squirt with iodopher before use.

Indeed it is.

If this guy is happy to drink from the fermenter then so be it, who the hell are you to slam him for it? He was only asking a question. I know a couple of you apologized but it's the smart arse comments you posted in the first place that make you look like absolute wankers. Just because you think you are shit hot brewers does not give you the right to put other people down. I always thought people on this forum were friendly & helpful, I was wrong.
I'm sorry I offended you, & this forum, Hooch.

Your post is truley enlightening & is positive input to the forum. & thank you for pointing out, on your first post may I add, that this forum has a "bad name"...
I have a feeling that "Hooch" is probably an alter ego for an established member of the forum who wished not to identify himself (although I certainly have no idea whom).

Thanks for the tip; it makes perfect sense from a physics standpoint but I didn't think of it, and I can see where this info is going to come in handy.

Cheers,

John
