Even my wife votes for leaching through the wrap. Not that it matters, my only concern is the lack of physical protection with glad wrap. I like the fact that heavy objects cant fall through.

There is a cupboard above. I don't trust my wife to not drop stuff onto it. The one time i did use glad wrap sonmething did fall onto it however disaster was averted. My lid goes straight into the dishwasher, then a quick squirt with iodopher before use.
