Best way to make a Candian Blonde

Post by thisispants »

Im lazy....but want to make either canadian blonde of maybe mexican cerveca.

The canadian Blonde is a lagar right?

Do you have to cold conditon lagars...?

Basically what I'm saying...I want to make a canadian blonde but put in about as much effort as I do making an ale.

Ok, seriously.

Can of Canadian blonde
1kg light malt,
and the ALE yeast that comes with the can.

No fridge needed.

Lagers are only lagers if you use a lager yeast. The coopers blonde kit comes with an ale yeast so you should be able to mix up one of them pretty lazily.

ok... no fridge = good for me.

So what hops would go nicely in that?

Also...is the canadian blonde a nice beer? And should I get a safale type yeast as opposed to the kit yeast.

I'm lazy, but i want it to taste good.

1 can of Coopers Canadian Blonde
500gm dextrose
500gm LDME
500gm of Yellowbox
15gm of Cascade

Found this somewhere, maybe here.
Haven't tried it but seems nice and lazy with a bit of flavour.

If you can, get a better yeast than what's under the lid.

Yeah, a Saf will do a better job.

And cascade is a simple option for hops.

Yeah, a safale yeast would be much better. Honey would also be good as someone else suggested but I wouldn't put that much in. I just did a draught with 200g of honey and it makes it really dry. It is nice but I'd limit it at 300g but that's just my opinion.

You didn't pay her did you, ya lucky (and somewhat sleazy) dog (otherwise known as Phill).

I'd do:

Blonde
250g Crystal
0.3kg Wheat
0.5kg Light Malt
0.3kgHoney
15gm Hallertau dry hopped
Keep it reel Image

What is a lagar? is it larger than a Lager, which by the way is the correct spelling.

Seeing as "lago" is the Spanish word for lake, and if "lagar" were a Spanish verb, "lago" would (normally) be its first person singular form in the present tense, I'd say "lagar" means "to be a lake". :)

500 grams,

Can't go wrong

Can I ask a question please and steal the thread for a bit. What does everyone have against Coopers Yeast?

Oh, and lagar means "living, growing, or taking place in water"
