Mick Malloy on the Late Show did a classic with dutchies.

Anyhoooooow, Dragon how is coming along....tempted to taste yet?

Highly recommend the Amarillo hop if you can get hold of it, it is awesome.

Hi,

No haven't tasted yet - I'm going to let it sit for another week or two... no rush!

Furthering to my partner helping me with the bottle, she is very happy with the cider I made (she tasted what I pulled out to take a measurement) and loved it! Now she wants me to make Ginger Beer too....

...and you haven't heard the best of it!...

I came home today, and there was a present for me. She'd gone to the HBS and bought me a beer kit: Morgans Golden Saaz Pilsener!

I feel like the luckiest man alive!!! She even asked me if I had all that I needed!!!!

amber ale update

Hi everyone.

Well, its been two weeks and one day - and I couldn't resist it, I cracked open one of these...

The colour is darker than expected - almost looks like Beamish Red or Kilkenny, but with that definite amber-ness, not redness...

Smells sweet - I thought I caught a whiff of honey and got excited; then I remembered I didn't put any honey in it.....

The head was ginormous, and light, frothy, creamy.

Nice taste - although I can still taste/feel that bottle of Chimay Blue I downed half-hour ago (sheesh, now that's a BIG beer... :wink: ).

And I'm actually drinking this at room temp (I couldn't be bothered refrigerating)....

Its actually quite light tasting - a lot lighter than my last one (a dark ale). There is onyl the most subtle taste of bitterness, and I am still getting a honey-sweet after-taste - could that be from the crystal malt, perhaps?

I am quite impressed with this, seeing as I was doing something relatively complicated (and only my 2nd brew.... first without the presence of my Master Mentor to guide me.... :lol: )

I think this and the Chimay are going to make it very hard for me to get up tomorrow morning..... good thing I have a day off! :lol: :roll: :twisted:

This sounds like a nice brew, i'm going to start a JSAA after i move house next week, be interested to hear how it tasted after chilling/maturing, and what you would do different?

I've been trying to keep this batch for our upcoming wedding, but supplies are dwindling.

Its quite popular amongst mates, as it goes down reeeeaaaall smooth.

I'm hoping I can replicate this one. Next time, I boil the hops with the malt. Maybe add a tad less of the grains, maybe steep for a little less, and try and get a shade lighter.... I think overall, I'd try and make my operations a little smoother and shorter, as it did feel like I was at this for hours....

If you can get the Brewcraft JSAA converter kit, I recommend it!!! Nothing like a smooooth brew.
