Well for me it's the V8supercars.
We have friends that come down from QLD for the round in Sydney and Bathurst plus the group here in Sydney. We go to the QLD rounds.
A normal round we have around 15 people, 8 guys and 7 gals. For the guys we smuggle in 4 cases of various beers on ice, several 30 packs of coke and 4 - 5 bottles of Bourbon/JD.
We get to the track around 6.30am set up the marques, BBQ, seats, etc and the lid comes off the first stubbie at around 7am. The day is pretty much a 12 hour event with the women folk taking the car keys and driving us home.

Jeez DAB, that's going back a bit. Would have loved to have seen the Don in action.
And you're right about todays squad being the golden era as well. I agree, although the Lillee, Thommo, Marsh era had something else about it.. Maybe it was the Aussie larrikin in the players, maybe it was the rest of the world had half decent teams too (ie the Windies - Sir Viv, Big Bird etc etc), maybe it was cause they were a bit less "professional" than todays players.
As for the V8 Supercars, yeah, don't really get into em myself, but I agree it sounds like a good, long excuse for a p!ss up. Getting the girlfriend chaffeurring you home after, bravo. I used to have a girlfriend that didn't drink at all, but liked pubs. God I miss her

Evo,
my missus works in a pub, so on the odd occasion I go in for a big night I have a chauffeur home and someone to make sure I find the bed etc. Just have to work on the cheap p!ss while at the pub, James Squire stub's over the bar get expensive! The only decent tap beer they've got id Toohey's OLd, but as much as I like it I can't drink it all night, after about 10-15 middies you need a change.

Cricket of the 1970s and 1980s was great. At least there was some quality opposition for the Aussies. Then there was Thommo, Lillee, Marshie, Doug Walters, etc, etc.
Now it seems that wherever we play we win by an innings and four million runs.
Not very interesting. What would the chances of a tied Test involving Australia be these days? I'd reckon less likely than at any time since we began playing Test cricket.
Call me a cynic and accuse me of living in the past ...
Cheers,
Oliver

Its $5.20 a beer at the mcg and $4.80 at docklands I havnt been to Geelong this year but beer prices went up 28% from last year, I hope they are included on the CPI.
How did the AFL footy tips go this week , I got 1 winner
Yeah, good call re the neds. Another sporting event that lasts long enough to get ratted. I missed out on the last race day we had. By all accounts it was the day of the year. Oh well, always next time. Not a real big fan of punting, but I'm a zen master at the other two P's.
GTI86, yeah, the legends of Aussie cricket are aging, but with the likes of Clarke and others it's not like we're not going to have a team.
Grab, she's a keeper.

Merlin,
Thanks mate
Clears it up entirely,
Just as an aside, don't come punting round here, you just bet on the ponies.
Just avoid the whiplash from the other.
Hope I can stay out of trouble over that
