3 brews in a day.....

Post by drsmurto »

Needed to put down a couple of brews as i am ordering kegs this week.

1st was a slight variation on Boonies LCPA clone.
1 can Grumpys 25IBU
1.7 kg Grumpys Pale Malt Extract
250g JW caramalt (50 EBC) steeped
15 g Cluster pellets @ 15 mins
15 g Chinook pellets @ 15 mins
5 g Cascade pellets @ 15 mins (why, i dont know, i just did)
US56 yeast
Will dry hop 15g cascade at rack

2nd was an english bitter (special? best?)
1 can Grumpys 30 IBU
1.7 kg Grumpys Pale Malt Extract
250g Bairds Medium Crystal malt (170 EBC) - steeped
15 g EKG @ 15 mins
15 g EKG @ 5 mins
S-04 yeast
Will dry hop 15 g EKG at rack

3rd was my first attempt at a cyser in my new 5L demi-john
1.2 L Berri apple juice
2.4 L Berri apple and pear juice
750 g Buzz Light meadow honey
500 g frozen raspberries
2 campden tablets
EC-1118 champagne yeast

Brought 200mL apple juice to boil, added honey till all dissolved, added the rest of the apple juice and raspberries. Crushed with potato masher. Added rest of juice and poured into the demi-john with 2 campden tablets crushed in a tsp of hot water. Left for 24h and then pitched yeast.

Busy weekend!

Re-wiring bar this week, fixing heater, installing taps, polishing bar so will order kegs asap. With temp in bar approx 5degC i reckon i can get away with a keg fridge for another month!

Cheers
