Extract lager suggestions anyone?
Tis the season and having trouble finding a good one.
Extract lager suggestions?
I have the following going ATM, should be very nice
Compliments of TL!
Coopers Bavarian Lager (or 2KG LLME)
4KG LLME
500g Dark Crystal
300g Caramunich II
100g of Carafa I or Choc malt
40g of Hallertau (60g if not using the kit) for 60 min
Steep the grains in 6-8L for a 23L batch.
Remove the grains and boil for 45 min with the hops.
Slowly add the extract and boil a further 15 min.
Cool and add cold water to 23L.
Use SafLager S23 dry yeast or Wyeast 2124 (S23 is supplied with the Coopers Bavarian Lager kit) in a 2L starter.

Thanks doc and muddy.
Just sub the tin in a recipe for extract and figure out some hops.
Too easy, cheers!

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but Kev, why so much LLME in this recipe?
What kind of percentage would that brew churn out?

The LLME was to try to get the body and ABV up to dopplebock ranges, which I managed quite well I think.Heals wrote:Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but Kev, why so much LLME in this recipe?

I never did the maths, somewhere around 7-8% I guess

It was undrinkable after 1 month in the bottle, but now it is an excellent drop, though not quite a dopplebock! This is one of those brews you want to forget about for a while because it just gets better with age
