Someone* thought they were doing me a favour by washing out my beer glasses with detergent, now they wont hold a head at all, even with bought beer. Is it possible to return them back to normal some how?
Have got a 250ml bottle from Toowoomba Home Brewers. Dilute 12ml per litre, clean glasses (rubber gloves recommended) and rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Label states "Contains: Alkaline salts 10% - 30%". Don't quite understand what that means, but sounds similar to the contents listed in some of the cheaper dishwasher detergents. But don't put your glasses through your dishwasher if you have one. Apparently the rinse aid is not good for beer glasses, and definitely not for SWMBO's fine crystal glasses.
Have read somewhere that Beer Line Cleaner is also good for cleaning beer glasses.
Do appropriate research before deciding what cleaner you decide to use.
I just rinse mine with hot water every night. But every few weeks or so I give it a run through the dishwasher then I scrub it with bicarb and rinse with vinegar.
I currently use the Pink Stain Remover. Works well for me.
Might try the Bi-Carb/Vinegar method next.
What quantities of each would be suitable for 10L of water?

I just put a little bicarb on the rag and give them a good wipe then I rinse them in the sink which I have added a good glug of vinegar to (maybe 1/4 cup).

Same here TL, where would we be without the dishwasher? Never had a problem.
I think if you use a simple dishwashing detergent it is fine. People that use the little packet soaps (with the power ball or rinse aid whatever) seem to be the ones with the problems! Some of the soaps have this built into the powder as well!
