I topped my Escort out at 132 MPH (not sure what that is in Ks 220 or so I guess?), it probably had a bit more in it but I ran out of road and had a passenger

My brother the passenger was screaming repeatedly at the top of his lungs something along the lines of "slow the f*** down or I am going to kill you" and at that point I honestly believed he would hurt me because he looked pretty bloody scared!

Not really that crazy, it was a straight flat 4 lane interstate at about 3 AM. Though if I had lost control there is a good chance I wouldn't be typing this anyway. But those are the joys of being young and invincible!

Brother had an old ballsed up 1.4L Mk1 GT Cortina and did a similar thing to me out on the Cunningham Highway many years ago. Don't know what speed we were doing the speedo only went to 125mph :P

Crikey could it go for a little 4 cyl made way back in the 60's...
Bloke that built the car still races a little green Escort out at Warwick fairly regularly.

My mates two door XC falcon I was at 215 at 4500rpm

He used to race it, man it could go.

His A9X went past this with a Supra 5 speed box, long leg diff (2.6) 15 inch wheels......I wont name the speed he tells me got too......had to measure it back from RPM as it went off clock...the things we do when young and crazy

2.6, geez that is a pretty long ratio.. my mate with the LJ is tossing up between a 3.3 ratio and something around 3.0 if i recall. i don't think the 3.3's going to do him many favours though, he does too many country trips.

My first car was an '82 Gemini that had Fred Flinstone brakes

Sold that and moved to a Ford Escort RS2000 with a Sierra 5 speed and boy could that thing move

Considered the Cossie engine swap but $$$ and time cut that project short. Sold it to a young bloke who I stressed to that he needs to watch the thing in the wet. Needless to say he wrapped it around a pole the very next day

Had a number of cars since including a VT Commodore and a Holden Astra but sold both. The Astra was a gold mine for my money (over $30k in receipts) but was a show car and as we all know you never get your money back on cars ...

Was driving a N13 Pulsar up to a few weeks ago when the head decided that it didn't want to play anymore and now cruising around in an AE82 Corolla

My brother in law is Mark Skaife's cousin, so he is predictably a totally one eyed dyed in the wool Holden man. Told him a few years ago that I'd build him a model of his Bathurst car, and he seemed enthusiastic. Was priceless to see the expression on his face when I unveiled the model for him, Dick Johnson's Ford Sierra, the red number 17 with the Shell sponsorship. He eventually saw the funny side of it, and still displays it in his glass cabinet. I now have a work in progress of cousin Skaife's blue Nissan Godzilla, so eventually I will end up fulfilling my promise, although a few years late.

Yeah, the 2.6 is a rare one, salisbury diff. Mine had a banjo diff that I snapped regularly. I had 3.08's and 3.36 diffs in mine.....I think I blew 4 in all, maybe 3.....

Yep the 3.36 will rev the freckle out of it.

yeah, he's got the 3.08 in it at the moment, for that reason. still has a fair bit of punch considering it's only a 173, and quite a decent exhaust note with the aftermarket he's put on it.

he's building up a 202 to put into it later, also straight gas. i'll be very interested to see how it goes once he gets around to that.

what do you drive now, boonie? i've had my magna for about 2.5 months now, LOVING the fuel economy on the factory dual fuel. uses around 15 litres of gas every 100km, which means i get about 450km from $28 of fuel

Suzuki XL7 2.7V6, goes OK, crap on fuel though

I had an LH that was a 4 Cylinder, my mate (previous owner) put a 173 in it. I bought the car, blew up the engine and I threw in a 2nd hand 202, no work done to it.

The power transformation overnight was awesome for a stock engine, your mate will find that out too

hehe, it's not going to be a stock 202 by the time he's ready to drop it in.. at the very least, cam, double valve springs and a full rebuild.

My father in law has a genuine A9X, he bought it new and it only has 50000km on the clock... He's been offered 200000 for it... He wont sell it, says he'll be buried in it...

First car was an iridium green Triumph 2500S. Mine was a complete lemon, crab-walked in 1st & 2nd, and was full of rust.

But geez, what a cool car. The perfect distance from the steering wheel to the windowsill for my elbow... that staggered Jag style transmission that's coming back in, and all that wood panelling.
It was like driving a loungeroom.

I wrote off an escort with it too! The only damage to mine was a tiny leak in the radiator, and the nose bent down 1 inch, giving it a "Don't f*** with me" scowl.

The Excel I replaced it with has been a top car and has handled my thrashing for the past 14 years (yep 1st owner), but there's no character.

4 door.... he's such a perfectionist, he's rebuilt it about 7 times.... and everything is orginal... he's got enough original spare parts to build another one....

He changes the oil every 6 months... even if he hasnt used it.... and he uses that redline stuff too.....

Crazy... but i guess i'd do the same if i had 200000 sitting in the garage too....
