Run up to summer schedule

Post by gibbocore »

How's everyone brewing schedules for the next few months?

i plan on getting a couple more kegs from ross, (total 6) and wanna have them all stocked for the silly season.

I'm going to do so far;

*G&G all grain Budvar recipe

*My own silly season summer wheat AG

*My take on LCPA Ag

*and i'm gonna have a crack at replicating Snowing mountains crackenback pale ale AG, they give a fairly in depth read of the grain and hops used in their beer along with the IBU and Aroma and bittering hop profile. Plus i fckn love this beer.

My next few AG brews are:

Blue Moon (I haven't had the time or guts to have a go on this one yet)
Three Floyds Dreadnaught
Stella
SNPA
CPA
LCPA
Thelonius Monk
Aventinus
Hobgoblin
Carlton Mid (this one I am going to try to clone for my wife, though I really have no idea where to start it should be a good challenge!)
Prost and happy brewing!

NFI brews are usually the most fun! Especially when you are mashing, I have a "make it up as you go" brew that I started drinking the other night and I am not sure it is going to last many more :P

I'm the same as you Pete. The last of the lagers are going through, and need to check stocks for ale season.

Not into mashing yet myself, but I may give a mini-partial a go next time round.
Here's my stock so far... might aim at an english bitter

1 can Morgans extra pale malt extract
850g choc malt
approx 50g saaz
approx 40g Goldings
250g Fuggles (bulk buy and I got excited! :D )
and a sniff (10g) of Nelson Sauvin (over 1 yr old now - dry hop maybe)

NS is quite good dry hopped. Maybe an IPA? Ale can kit, the Morgans extract and random hops additions?

I'm not kegging yet, so i really need to get going on brewing some lagers and pils and APAs bottled and ready for the silly season..

at the mo have got an oktoberfest lager lagering in the fridge, a JSGA bubbling away, i was planning on maybe putting together another APA probably SNPA or LCPA or a IPA.. and try my hand at a czech pils or german lager, and maybe a bock.

All simple and effective... need to cater for the family...

I got a heap of wheat beers that are taking a little longer than expected to get through (a little undercarbed), so i guess they'll still be around in a few months time to drink...

I have just put one in to lager but it tasted good out of the fermenter, i used-

4.1 kg pilsner grain
500 gm light munich
250 gm wheat
25 gm tettnang ( 60 mins )
25 gm " " " " ( 30 mins)
20 gm " " " " ( 5 mins)
20 gm " " " " ( 0 mins)
1/2 tsp irish moss ( 10 mins )

And got a bit lazy that day and used a saflager W 34/70

23 litre batch and all hops were 4.2 AA%

Cant comment on the finished product just yet but looked, smelled and tasted great out of secondary.
Cheers

By Mid-October I should have finished:
Barleywine
Malt Extract Australian Stout
Malt Extract LCPA Clone
Malt Extract Chimay Blue Clone
Mead
(All are partials except for the mead.)

At the end of this time 400 Longnecks will be filled and ready for those long summer months. Since I'm a light drinker (try to keep under the recommended 24 standard drinks per week) that'll last with no problems at all.

The Mead will take a few months, so I'm considering leaving it till march when cooler temps prevail.

Trizza.
