Cascade extract

Post by collapoo »

Thought I would throw another one of my best up here.

3kg light liquid malt
600g home made candi sugar
60g 4.7% A.A. Cascade for 60 mins
15g Cascade 15 mins
15g Cascade 5 mins
At end of primary add 15g steeped cascade and 15g dry.
safale yeast
brew 20 C, 27L (yes 27 litres)

This was an ambitious beer with its hop schedule, and I thought it was to much but a month after bottling this is by far the smoothest most full flavoured beer i have made. Its bitterness is spot on and the cascade flavour and aroma is to die for. I can see myself becoming fat off this beer!

I reckon a T58 yeast would have worked well there with that beer, too. :)

No, its a dry yeast. About 11g. sachet, from the Fermentis range that does the S04, US56 etc. Throws a spicy peppery note. Around $4.50, you can reuse it a couple of times if you wish.
