That's becoming less and less an issue Chris.

Carn the Swannies....

Wherever you go you will find that the supporters will desert a sinking ship. Except maybe in Newcastle where the Knights received the Wooden spoon a couple of years ago and still had the highest average supporters at each game......and no, I do not go for the Knights.

Mind you, in 2007, the club was in massive "Turmoil" and the crowds dropped massively.
As for the gravity, never aim to bottle at a certain gravity, wait until the gravity reads the same for 3 days running, or in the case of enzyme 5 days running.
I concur  , though I normally say 2 days.

Well, after racking for a week or so, there was no change in gravity, so I bulk primed and bottled today. Drew off a sample for tasting, and put the last litre from the fermenter into the new Masskrug I got today in the mail.
:D

It's pretty hazy (which is a combination of yeast and the dry hopped cascade I think).

The aroma is amazing. I guess it's because it is so fresh.
Very passionfruit.
It's perhaps a little sweet/fruity to taste, but it will be interesting to see what some carbonation and a few weeks conditioning in the bottle will do.

Did you make those labels? How'd you do it if you did?

yep.

um, used photoshop to combine a couple of photo's I found on the net, and play around with them to get the effect, then cropped the photo into an oval shape, then imported it into powerpoint and did the rest in there.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out :D

Not bad. I was wondering about the shape, but I think I can see that you printed onto transparent rectangular labels. Is that right? I first thought you had shaped labels.

I wish my printer had white ink...

I think he probably printed onto something like:

I am curious as to why you used Powerpoint though... are you sure that is what you used? Publisher maybe? Photoshop perhaps?
Prost and happy brewing!

photoshop does not have the same kind of "drawing" abilities as photoshop. (or at least, I haven't found them).

Great for manipulating images (I got the clouds from one picture, and cut the ground from another) but for text and easily manipulated shapes from scratch, powerpoint is far easier. Most of my photoshop skills are in photo manipulation.

Why not publisher? Well, I haven't got it :D

It was printed onto sticker paper, and then manually cut out. I have also printed some on normal paper, and glued them on, but have been thinking about getting either some thinner paper (more authentic) or slightly changing the size/shape and purchasing some oval label sheets. (edit: from the website you linked to, interestingly enough :D)

You can't see it in the photo's, but there are actually two rectangular "wings" protruding from the oval, around the bottle, done in the same colour as the banner at the bottom of the label. So I would have to change the design to go with a commercial sticker, or have some custom made. A bit pricey for my first real home brew.

Glad you like the label. What about the beer? Hoping the bottled stuff will be clearer.

Any thoughts on my linguistic creativity?

lol

Not really. Just wondering if it's a decent name for a beer :D

Going to have to have one soon, with the words "Drop Bear" in the title.

Bit of a shame the first one was an APA.

Drop Bears American Pale Ale has a nice irony to it...

:D
