FYI, I am the proud owner of 2 x 19 Litre Kegs and all the gear to go with it.

I had to tell you guys as no-one else is excited for me :lol:

Purchased from my local HBS.

Now, just to paint the fridge and order the gas.....oh and drill holes, and make some beer for it.....all before Xmas......and then hang up Xmas Lights, paint the fence, mow the lawn.............Put it together 8) :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Now just to read all the posts on Kegging that I've always put aside until I needed it...............I'll be back in 6 months :wink:

Great news Boonie!

Have you got a gas supplier? I suggest mykegonlegs.com.au

I use them, and it's going well. It costs a bit to buy in, but looks good long term.

My gas bottle is about to empty - so, Chris, you recommend mykegonlegs then? I've got to convince minister for home finances that the initial cost is worth it, but lets face it - a large bottle of CO2 lasts about 18 months so it'll be a while before I get true value for money.

Having a brand spanking new gas bottle is good - the old rusty unit that I'm currently using leaks CO2 when I open the valve - it's in real need of an overhaul...when I return to it PubGas, empty.

My 9kg gas cylinder does about 50 kegs, carb and dispense. I don't think specifying how long a bottle lasts based on time is really all that informative as people's usage will vary. Now tell me to lighten up! :P

mykegonlegs is good for me- I bought straight in when I started kegging, so 'technically' I am saving money from day one...

We'll see. But the system works, and beats rental fees as far as I can see.

Do yourself a favour, and buy in Sydney if you can. That way, your first bottle of gas is free.

I picked up the Gas bottle yesterday.

Hired it as the "Minister for Finances" said what if you don't like the kegs......anyway, after I got up off the ground from laughing, I decided to take her advice :oops:

mykegonlegs is heaps cheaper in the long run. I will Hire for 1 year and then purchase Once I decide I like it :wink:

Tonight will be the drilling and painting and waiting til the brews are ready to go in.

First off the line will be the ND Brewing Porter and my other fave LCPA.
Thirdly is going to be a JSGA recipe.

EDIT, bought 2 taps for my set-up :D . It's going to be a very Merry Xmas

Well, I racked the beers I brewed last week, and put them in the kegs on Sat.

Adjusted the Pressure to about 240 and left for 24 (It did say 48 hours).....could not help myself and adjusted everything down and poured my first beer from it 8) .

Lovely, but still needed more CO2, so I put the pressure back up for another 24 hours......maximum :lol: :wink:

I too have my CO2 in the fridge with the 2 kegs, yep she's a big fridge, and will post the other question on that thread....

Man, what a great night.

6 Schooners of beer and no bottles in the sink......my wife will be very happy :D , oh and me too........ The carb level was good, with maybe just another 24 hours at 250 to boost slightly. Head perfect, pouring pressure about 10.

Everyone should start saving for kegs.....seriously.
The best thing is if you want just a quick beer before bed, pour a middy. If you want a schooner, or a stein, no worries and no sediment.

LOVE IT 8)

Yeah, no bottles in the sink to give away how much you've had to drink :wink:

And if anyone tells you your beer consumption dosen't go up when you've got kegs they're talking shit :D

Heh, there's no way I cut back on my consumption - the beer gut is testament to that!! :oops:
Another thing that's good to do with more than one keg is to mix and match. Had enough pale ale for the night? Then pour 1/4 of a glass of stout from one keg and top up the glass with pale ale from the other keg - voila, one amber ale in an instant!!

Start brewin' Boonie - empty kegs are a health hazard...they can rust, grow fungus and stuff so fill 'er with beer mate! :lol:
