i had four bottles of Weihenstephaner Hefe, and two of Kristall... and that was before midday... then topped it off with the erdinger Pikantus that i had left over from Oktoberfest... Geez it was a good day...
And for new years... i managed to get my arse to the Paddiongton Ale house in Mt Hawthorn where they are one of 3 places in Perth which have the weihenstephaner hefe on tap!!... needless to say it was a great new year too....

I freely admit that I was Very Very Drunk....
"They speak of my drinking, but never consider my thirst."
Finished 07 off with a couple more Coopers Vintage 06's......and a couple of 07's + the newly Kegged beer.
The 06's OMG what a difference a year makes (since I last had one).
It has lost it's "extra malty" flavour and the aroma was very "spirited", very "alcoholish/winish". Hard to explain.....more balanced than when they were new IMO.
Cheers
Boonie

A homebrew is like a fart, only the brewer thinks it's great.
Give me a flying headbutt.......

Re: What are you guys drinking for Xmas?
Just thought I would post back on the outcome of the beer tasting back in NZ
The standout as a summer quaffer was the Mac's Sundance Summer Ale... it was great - with the Riwaka hop and lemongrass it was a nice, light beer with plenty of flavour though. I don't think I have tried the Riwaka Hop before in a beer - only the B Saaz and not this D Saaz. Anyway - it is really citrussy and is perfect for a summer ale style beer. Thinking of a recipe already for this one... I might through some in with some Coopers PA cans I have to see what happens. It didnt wow me on tap when I had it, but perhaps this was just at that pub - out of the bottle it was great.
I continued to like the Mac's Hop Rocker too.
While I tried to keep it Kiwi... I just couldnt get past how cheap beer was as a whole, I forgot about just how good it is back there. Grolsh for $10 for a 6 pack, Budvar for $13, and if you want to get drunk for cheap - $23 for a 24-pack of Tui or DB Export (admittedly, this is on par with Tooheys New and the like)... but still - sensational.
Also got a few bottles of boysenberry wine which I really enjoy, and tried a new drink which I hope makes it to Australia as well for the ladies (any my sake) - its called Stark, and it is a Vodka ready to drink, but unlike all those sugary awful ones, this was nice. I got one given to me that was apple, feijoa and vodka.. it was more like mineral water, it went down so easily - the girls polished it off just as quick.... this can only mean good things
