what to do with kegs

G'day blokes just new to the forum and had a question, i just picked up two 50l kegs for $20 each at the recyclers and wasn't sure which way to go you see i'm an extract brewer and i want to get into ag brewing so i thought i might convert the kegs into a kettle and mash tun considering the cost of ss steel pots but i'm also considering kegging my beer because frankly bottling is pissing me off., I'm a bit either way at the moment. Your drunken opinions would be appreciated thanks

I'd go the kettle option with the 50L jobs.

Ditto....I use my two as a hot liquor tank and kettle.

I used an angle grinder instead of the Dremmel and it worked fine.

Thanks for the advice and links guys these forum's are awesome. I'm going to go the kettle idea hell of a lot cheaper than buying pots. Time to whip out the tools cheers!

No probs - one tip before you cut the top off the kegs - make sure the hole you make isn't too big - these keggles make a fair bit of steam when they boil and your evaporation rates will go through the roof if you cut off most of the top of the keg. It's also handy to release the pressure in the keg before you start cutting or you'll be in for a surprise when you ark up the grinder!

If you look on youtube there are a couple of videos on how to remove the valve properly first. Use keywords sankey kev remove valve. The best on id actually an Aussie (surprise surprise and uses a drill bit first. I followed it exacally and it took me 2 minutes. Saves a beer bath( I had that too but forgot to open my mouth)
