Hello all,
I'm thinking of buying a fridge to dedicate to fermenting buy am unwilling to spend $100+ on a thermostat.
Does anyone know where i can get a reliable thermostat (new or 2nd hand) for less than this?
Thermostats
Re: Thermostats
go to http://www.craftbrewer.com.au
and buy a fridgemate $47.50
you need to buy a few more bits from dick smiths, but all up it ends up being about 60.
it controls the temp of the fridge to whatever temp you set it to by means of a feedback probe. (thermostat that you put in the fridge).
the best thing is you dont have to stuff around with the fridge. it is controlled using the power.
its best used if you have a fridge only (not fridge and freezer) as it will make the freezer obsolete.
thats the best thing that i've used.

Re: Thermostats
That link takes you to a shop front - can you link directly to the thermostat you are referring to please? Preferably without logging in first

Re: Thermostats
Have two fridgemates myself, don't be scared off by the part DIY required by it.
I am not a sparky or much of a technical tooly type bloke and I put them both together.
Great piece of kit, use the other between the lagering fridge and the heatbelt for the melb winters.

Re: Thermostats
I've been looking at similar temp controllers that have been premade but electricl companies, and they are trying to flog them off for as much as $350. if you dont mind having a go at doing it yourself, its worth it...
Speaking of thermostats, who has a HLT/mash tun temp controller? i was thinking about getting one for when i start AG? i'm guessing they will be very similar in how they are constructed.
