Brew Day at my place - all welcome

Post by drsmurto »

Throwing open my place and the bar for a brew day this Saturday (23rd of February). This is mainly for the benefit of those looking at making partials and working your way up to AG or even if you are just interested in the process and what gear/methods are involved. Its only my 14th AG but i have pretty much got the process down pat except when i get stuck into the sherbets too early.

Will aim to get started around 11-12. On tap are 3 AGs - the last of the Guinness, a mates dark ale and my latest LCPA attempt that was dry hopped last night with 15g of this seasons cascade. Damn it smelt good.

Brewing an ESB to this recipe - an attempt at Timothy Taylors Landlord.

3.75 kg Pale Malt, Maris Otter (5.9 EBC) Grain 92.59 %
0.30 kg Munich II (Weyermann) (25.0 EBC) Grain 7.41 %
45.00 gm Fuggles [4.40 %] (60 min) Hops 25.2 IBU
30.00 gm Goldings, East Kent [4.50 %] (20 min) Hops 10.4 IBU
0.50 items Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15.0 min) Misc
30.00 gm Styrian Goldings [4.70 %] (20 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep) Hops -

Will be dumping it onto a 1469 yeast cake.

Its up in the Adelaide Hills town of Mt Torrens, PM me for address and contact details.

Cheers

Doc, get out of the tardis...we're still in February old boy!

Have a great brewday - I'll be thinking of you all as I mash in the Steam beer that same morning...

Cheers,

As long as doc has Foxtel so I can watch the GF next day, 'cause I'd be in no fit state to travel after that day 8)

That's great to open your doors to us doc, when I go to the Car Museum, in the not too distant future, I'll definitely be "popping" in for a few lessons.

Cheers

Really wish I could make it, if for no other reason than to sample your on-tap offerings, they sound great.....but I have this little distance problem.

That is a great offer to your homebrewing buddies. I hope you have good attendance. Hope to hear how it turned out!

The silence is deafening......

Apart from the 2 ppl coming around to pick up bottles i am selling there are no takers. Might not have been too clever to do this on Clipsal weekend. If noone turns up i might just make it a double brew day and belt out a CSA clone.

Can you hold on to a few 'til I get there?

Saving my holidays as we speak so I can have a month off next year....not a month at your place doc, just 3 weeks  kidding

Plan on heading south to Melbourne then SA and back again. Might pay a few visits to the Melbournites, like Rysa.

Boonie's great Southern Tour, I'm gunna call it

Cheers

Havent even cracked the 2000 carton and am only halfway thru the 99 so i reckon they will still be here next year......

Happy to host visitors to Docs bar and the various micros around SA ( i havent got down to the Gulf or the Steam Exchange yet). Also surrounded by vineyards home to the best sav blancs outside NZ. Its hard driving past several cellar doors and 2 micros each day to and from work.

Top effort for you opening your house up drsmurto :D

If i lived in Adelaide, i'd be the first to take up your invite. God knows i'd love to brush up on my mashing skills.

I'm four hours drive away, so maybe next time i might make a trip of it. And swing past Grumpy's too. Good luck for tomorrow. let us know how ya get on.
