Coles
Coles
I was at my local Coles last week and I noticed that they have a reasonable supply of brew kits including the cascade range. All the Cascade series were on special from $12.49 down to $9.99. The last Cascade mix I bought was arounfd the $15 mark so I will be back to Coles to pick up a few cans next week.
Re: Coles
I have had very mixed results with the Cascade range. If you do pick a few up, I suggest you at least replace the yeast under the lid with a fitting saf range yeast.
Re: Coles
The 2 cascades I have done were great- but I really only used them as hopped malt extract. There was so much other stuff that they weren't even close to the 'intended' final product.
But I still vote Coopers

Re: Coles
The Cascade kits I have done were fine. I think people who have poor results are used to the bullet-proof Coopers yeast. The Cascade one isn't bad, in fact it's a nice clean-fermenting yeast, but only if you treat it right (primarily temperature wise). If you think you're going to have trouble with temperature (fluctuations, or too high or low), I'd sub the yeast for US-05, 1056, or even Coopers.
