That would be a big negatore captain.

The worse thing is that when they talk of a new tax, or a new law they say, "Canberra is doing it".
It's not Canberra you numb nuts, it's the federal f---ing government (with the emphasis on f---ing).

Canberra is a city, (full of people who have never returned a liberal member or government I might add). So when these dicks make a new law that screws people around, thejournalists should say, "This new law from devious pollies...etc".

Anyway, enough ranting for a while.

Peace, love and brown rice, dudes. (Remember, dope is still decriminalised here  )

rwh in this thread wrote: Paragraphs pls... *sob*

The reason I ask is that I skim-read most posts. The idea of a paragraph is that each one contains a single concept which is discussed in several sentences. This allows one to read the first sentence in each paragraph and work out what the writer is going on about. No paragraphs means I can't do that, so what I normally do is skip the post entirely. :(

I agree that we should use good Grammer where possible , it's important

Something that annoys me is when people say

imporant

meaning important

it seems to be something the young folks say

Aw my God

I find alot of the time for me, i am in such a hurry to write that i mix the lettering up.. the ends up being hte. its goes to tis etc etc. And i tend to abbreviate words that shouldnt really be abbreviated such as expensive = expenny and probably = prolly...

Apart from that, i try to get all my grammar correct and spelling and such...

I'm not a big fan of people using numbers when they should be using words like before = B4. if the word is that hard to type correctly, then maybe you just shouldn't be typing.

Without seeing the person, communication is the next best way you can really judge what a person is like...

Grammar nazi? Who me?

Anyone who uses a z in place of an s. American-ese is a disease (no offence Kev) that shits me no end.

The other big one that is rampant on beer forums i peruse - lose and loose.

Its not arrogance, we are all taught how to spell in primary school so there is no excuse.

Its not rocket science.

Its just plain lazy.

Spell checkers on people!

I'm watching you!

I agree it's not difficult to get grammar and spelling correct with a bit of basic intelligence and common sense.

It makes reading any posts easier.

If I can learn to do it, anyone can. I did not speak a word of English until I was 15 years old.
Most of the people on this forum have English as their native tongue (and that includes Kevnlis).

I am continually - although I admit this to be my own problem - annoyed by people who do not take the trouble to at least spell the majority of their writings correctly. For me, largely correct grammar and spelling in a post shows that the author has given some effort to their writing and so I should give their thoughts some contemplation.

I know that it is not always the case that an inventor is also a wordsmith, but in the event that you want to communicate with me, you should ensure that you say what you mean so that I can too.

I suspect a lot of people have had great ideas and been dismissed or ignored because they have not been able to communicate them to other people who can refine or finance or develop these ideas...

It is though, a very different language to the proper "Queens English" and again to what Australia calls English. Correct spelling and grammar here still shocks me at times. I admit without a British spell checker I would "misspell" or "Americanise" (I would have spelt that with a 'z' and the word spelt is not a real word where I come from, the word is 'spelled' where as 'spelt' is wheat to me) many words I type on this forum!

Doc, the 'z' in those words is considered 'proper' in the US, and if you did not use that spelling you would be the one chastised for it... just different sides of the coin IMHO. No offence taken at all ;)
